What a week! Between the last minute rush on team sign ups, and the reveal of the groups on Wednesday, there has been a lot happening - both at MPL headquarters and in the community.
Now that the teams are locked and loaded, we can also share a bit more detail on how the later stages of the cup will work. Read on for more!
The start of the week saw anticipation for the group reveal really starting to ramp up, and a final flurry of player loans, crest creations and team sign ups. Gaffer himself was counting down the days, and as the create team countdown hit zero, we finished the count at 654 teams and 508 unique managers who made the cut and joined the inaugural MPL Cup.

But the week didn’t end there. As the deadline hit, Gaffer and iOn’s work was just beginning, with iOn tasked with creating the groups and organising the upcoming group stage fixtures. So, if you don’t like the look of the competition, you know who to blame!
